Kaduna Electric, the operator of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, has assured electricity users in its franchise area of continued steady improvement in quality of power supply. The Head, Corporate Communication of the Company, Abdulazeez Abdullahi gave the assurance in Kaduna today while fielding questions from journalist on the one year anniversary of the Company as a private enterprise.
Mr. Abdullahi stated that the Company has constructed, commissioned and or upgraded seven injection sub-stations across the Company’s operational territory in the last one year. “These projects have helped in significantly improving the quality of power supply to our customers in the four states covered by the Company”, he contended.
On marketing and customers’ services, Mr. Abdullahi disclosed that the Company is currently carrying out customers’ enumeration with the view to knowing the actual number of electricity users within the company’s franchise area. According to him, this shall be followed with mass pre-paid meters deployment, which shall commence in due course.
Mr. Abdullahi appealed to all customers of the Company to reciprocate their gesture by paying electricity bills promptly, arguing that “one the difficult challenges facing the Company now is customers’ apathy towards payment of bills”. According to him, the “Company’s zeal and business development strategy is being hampered by the lack of commensurate response to payment of bills by the customers”.
It will be recalled, Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company was handed over to the core investor on the 4th of December last year, after the preferred bidder, the North-west Power Limited fulfilled all requirements.
