The Management of Kaduna Electric is alarmed with the rising spate of energy theft in our network. This sad situation is the more alarming on feeders designated as Band A that enjoy a minimum of 20 hours daily. The high rate of energy loss has become a revenue drain pipe, making it difficult for us to meet our obligations to the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.
Specifically, Band A feeders, including Legislative, Barnawa GRA and Leventis in Kaduna and Canteen in Zaria have become notorious for energy theft and low payments. Series of physical engagements and appeals to these customers have not yielded the desired results.
In view of this, we wish to inform the public that we have now prepared our teams and also collaborating with the NSCDC and other security agencies to tackle the menace of energy theft. Our new whistle blowing policy includes naming and shaming of customers in the media.
Customers are therefore urged to desist from this destructive act and endeavour to pay for energy they have consumed promptly. This is the only way we can guarantee improved services to customers across all customer Bands.
