The Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has pledged that the State Government will review the outstanding electricity bills owe Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company with the view to settling it installmentally.
The Governor made the promise today in Sokoto when he received the Chairman of the Board of of Kaduna Electric, Alhaji Abbas Muhammad Jega who led Management of the Company on a courtesy visit to the Governor.
Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal said the Country cannot achieve its development aspirations without efficient and sustainable power supply.
“We must get the power sector right if we are to achieve our development aspirations. The State Government shall come up with a payment plan that will enable us offset all the outstanding electricity bill installmentally”, he said.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, Alhaji Abbas Muhammad Jega assured the Governor of the renewed commitment of the Company to improve service delivery and customers’ relations in the State.
“We shall do everything it takes to improve service delivery and ensure timely resolution of customers’ complaints”, he asserted.
Alhaji Abbas Jega also disclosed that Pre-paid meters shall be deployed to the State as soon as the next phase of the National Mass Metering Programme commence.
He appealed to the Governor to support the Company’s advocacy for drastic improvement in payment of electricity bills by both the State’s MDAs and the good people of the State.
