Umar Hashidu is the Managing Director of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDC) after serving as an administrator by in the company during Administration under the Order of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission. He served as the acting Managing Director of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC), the interventionist agency setup for the recovery, stabilisation and development of North-Eastern Nigeria ravaged by the Boko Haram Insurgency. Prior to that he doubled as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Quest Electricity Nigeria Limited, the core investor of Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) and the operating company, YEDC. Prior to this, he was a World Bank and UKNIAF consultant and the Head of Strategy and Corporate Performance of one of the largest electricity distribution companies in Nigeria. His experience spans several industries including Finance, Management Consultancy, Energy and Research. Umar is an experienced business strategist, a researcher, a consulting practitioner and was a tutor at the Centre for Innovation and Enterprise at Warwick Business School. As the Head of Strategy in Kano DisCo, Umar was responsible for charting the strategic focus of the company, corporate wide performance and responsible for high level negotiations especially Power Purchase Contracts, energy invoicing, verification of energy bills by the Market Operator and payments to market participants by NBET.
Prior to becoming the Head of Strategy, his passion for inculcating a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation as a means of creating prosperity and employment for the next generation drove him to teach International Perspective on Entrepreneurship and Innovation in High Tech Firms to university students. His penchant for teaching made him volunteer to teach at a local school in Coventry as an undergraduate student and to be selected as part of Warwick in Africa education programme to teach in South Africa in conjunction with Witwatersrand University. This has enabled Umar to understand the need to teach students to be inventive to foster entrepreneurship and growth especially in the African continent. Umar has put research into practice by setting up a business process outsourcing firm to provide service to Nigerian firms that lack the skills set and expertise so that they can compete in the global market. Straddling between Europe and Africa has given Umar a nuanced and global perspective on knowledge, innovation, technology transfer and entrepreneurship and the role of governments/leadership in providing a framework to unleash untapped human potential.
Umar in his research, education, and travels has acquired team-building skills, which he put into practice in setting up a firm and winning a multi-million-dollar consultancy engagement, as well as mentoring young entrepreneurs through Warwick Ventures; strong communications and analytical skills which he employs in various spheres of life. Umar currently serves as the Group Head, Planning and Strategy of Nice Corporate Services, an emerging conglomerate and a consultant to the energy and extractive team of the World Bank; he holds a BEng in Systems Engineering and an MSc in International Technology Management both from Warwick University, UK. Umar’s doctoral studies is focused on Management with expertise in strategy, policy and organisational design and development.

With over twenty years of experience, he has excelled as a Transaction Adviser and a proficient Turnaround Strategist. His illustrious career spans various sectors including Government, Academia, Banking, Insurance, and the Power Sector. Dr. Abubakar’s primary focus lies in orchestrating and guiding cross-functional teams towards instigating transformative change and enhancing organizational strategy, processes, and profitability with lasting impact.
Dr. Abubakar is a dynamic and charismatic individual with a natural inclination towards leadership and interpersonal relationships. Bashir is a results-driven professional with over 17 years experience in Customer Service, Relationship Management, Marketing & Sales, and ATC&C loss reduction strategies for power utilities. Proficient at developing and executing targeted business initiatives that enhance business performance and help transform organizations to achieve desired outcomes. An effective communicator and team leader with proven ability to build long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders through re-engineering business processes, defining continuous improvement processes, and building effective teams that can surmount all obstacles.
Bashir currently leads the Strategy & Business Excellence team at Kaduna Electric, responsible for overall strategy formulation and execution targeted towards achieving the company’s ATC&C loss reduction target. He is also responsible for developing innovative business models for the company in the areas of Distributed Energy Resources (DER), leading to a more sustainable utility.
Bashir began his working career in the Financial Services sector with Nigeria’s oldest Financial Institution, across Credit Analysis, Retail Banking & Branch Services. He then made a switch to the Energy Sector, working across various roles in Commercial and Strategy functions.
Bashir earned his B.Sc. and MBA from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. He is also a member of several professional institutes such as, Fellow of the Chartered institute of Information & Strategy Management, Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants, Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and Member of the Project Management Institute, amongst others.
Solomon Ochada Omaye (PhD, ACA, ACTI) holds a PhD in Economics with a specialization in Energy from the Nigerian Defence Academy (The Prestigious Military University) Kaduna Nigeria. He holds a master degree in Economics as well as bachelor degree in Economics both from Bayero University, Kano. He co-led the transformation of the Finance and Accounts Department of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company in various capacity as Head of Group Treasury and Accounts, Team Lead Corporate Finance, Head of Unit Corporate Finance, Head of Unit General Account and currently, the Chief Finance Officer (CFO). He also served in Kaduna Electric as Senior Marketing Supervisor (SMS) now Commercial Manager (CM) and Service Centre Manager (SCM). He has also served on the management of Smart Meters Company Limited, Kaduna Nigeria as the Chief Finance Officer (CFO). He served as an Executive Director (Finance and Administration), with Biosphere Global Consultancy Limited. He has worked with the Access Bank Plc in the operations department. He also has served at both domestic and international non-governmental organization (NGOs) where he managed several portfolios including but not limited to Community Development, Financial Institutions, Corporates and Multinationals. He was a visiting lecturer at the Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology, Kano Nigeria for over 9 years. He has specialty in Energy aspect of developing countries such as Africa, which includes but not limited to energy demand modelling, energy transition, energy market derived policies, and energy environmental issues in developing countries, as well as financial modelling, taxation, corporate issuers and financial analysis, auditing and accounting, and financial reporting. He has published several articles in both domestic and international journals. He is also a member to the following professional bodies; the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) as well as a level-1 candidate of the Certified Financial Analyst (CFA). He is also a member of the Nigeria Association for Energy Economics.
Engr. Ibrahim Abubakar is a distinguished Electrical Engineer and energy
sector executive with over two decades of progressive experience in
Nigeria’s power sector, specializing in power systems operations, energy
management, and distribution network optimization. He will be playing a
key leadership role in managing and overseeing the technical and
operational aspects of Kaduna electric power distribution network. He will
be providing strategic leadership in technical operations, network
rehabilitation, and the deployment of advanced technologies aimed at
minimizing ATC&C losses and team management. He will be enhancing
billing and collection efficiencies, and driving Kaduna Electric’s sustainable
financial recovery.
Engr. Abubakar holds a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Power and
Machine from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, and a Bachelor of
Engineering (B.Eng.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the
University of Maiduguri. A registered COREN engineer, he is also a member
of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Nigerian Institution of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers (NIEEE).

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from the American University of Nigeria-Yola, International Diploma in Strategic Management from the Metropolitan School of Business and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Atlanta College of Liberal Arts
and Sciences. He is also a proud member of the Nigerian Chartered Institute of Management. Before joining Kaduna Electric, Jada enhanced his professional competence through specialized training in Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), MSME Capacity Building, Critical Thinking for Self-Development, and Strategic Market Penetration for Business Growth and Market Expansion. His career journey began in the financial sector, where he served as an Assistant
Analyst with an Investment bank, gaining valuable experience in money
market and capital market operations. He subsequently transitioned into the telecommunications industry,
serving as Business Manager, Planning & Strategy Manager with Mozash Global Investment. He later built significant expertise in the oil and gas industry, particularly within the LPG value chain, where he played a key role in the development and expansion of Auto Gas, CNG, Butane, and Propane markets across North-Eastern Nigeria.
In the power sector, Ibrahim has accumulated over a decade of hands-on experience across several electricity distribution companies, including Jos Electricity Distribution Plc, Yola Electricity Distribution Company, Kano Electricity Distribution Company, and Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company. Throughout his career, he has held various positions including Customer Relations Officer, Customer Care Officer, Regional Revenue Protection Officer, Regional Auditor, and Head of Revenue Protection.
His track record in revenue assurance is marked by exceptional achievements. While serving at Yola DisCo, he
successfully identified and recovered revenue leakages valued at over ₦1 billion within a single year, significantly improving the company’s revenue performance. Currently, as the Head of Revenue Protection Unit (RPU) at Kaduna
Electric, he has continued to drive a positive revenue recovery through strengthened revenue assurance processes, loss reduction initiatives, and enhanced field operations. Under his leadership, the Unit achieved a remarkable ₦4.6 billion in revenue leakages and protection since assuming the office in May 2024, reinforcing
