Dr. Umar is a trained System Engineer from the School of Engineering of the University of Warwick, United Kingdom. He acquired his Master of Science (Msc.) degree from the same institution in the field of International Technology Management. After teaching for a while at the University of Warwick, Dr. Umar acquired his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Management with expertise in strategy, policy, organizational design and development at the same institution.
In 2014, Dr. Umar was first recruited as a consultant to serve as the Decision Support Executive to the Managing Director (MD) of Kano Electricity Distribution Company, a position he held for 6 months before the Company offered him a full-time role as Head of Strategy and Corporate Performance to strengthen the management team in developing organizational strategic focus and performance evaluation. As Head of Strategy, he developed the company’s strategic plan in line with BPE’s approved acquisition plan with a designated implementation plan in conformity with grid, distribution, metering and codes.
Dr. Umar served as a consultant for the World Bank Energy and Extractive team working in support of the performance-based loan towards the actualization of the Power Sector Recovery Programme (PSRP) in Nigeria. In this role, he interfaced with BPE and other stakeholders and contributed to the development of standards in improving the governance of DisCos in the areas of external accountability and transparency, relationships between boards and management, and procurement procedures for investment within the scope of DisCos Performance Improvement Plans.
Dr. Umar holds several professional development certifications including Finance for Non-finance Directors from the Institute of Directors (UK) and a certificate in Building and Leading Organization from FTTC Nigeria. He is a registered Engineer with COREN and a Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Member, Institute of Engineering and Technology UK, Member Institute of Civil Engineers UK, Member Institute of Mechanical Engineers UK, Fellow Institute of Management Consultants Nigeria.
Mr. Tajudeen Gwadabe holds a Bsc (Hons.) degree in Accounting from Bayero University, Kano and a Master in Business Administration (MBA). He is a Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN), Fellow Institute of Chartered Human Resource of Nigeria, Member of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Chartered Institute of Taxation (ACTI), Chartered Institute of Professional Administrators of Nigeria, Fellow African Institute of Strategic Managers (AISM) and also, member in Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS).
With over two decades experience, Gwadabe has garnered diverse skills across various sectors including; banking, security and exchange, energy and finance in Nigeria.
Prior to joining Kaduna Electric, Tajudeen Gwadabe was the pioneer Internal Auditor and also Head of Finance & Accounts at Kano Electricity Distribution Company. He joined Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company as Head of Finance and Accounts and was subsequently appointed Chief Corporate Services Officer in 2022.
He was recently appointed Chief Finance Officer at Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company.
Dr. Mamudu Abubakar is an Economist renowned for his expertise in Energy Economics. With over twenty years of experience, he has excelled as a Transaction Adviser and a proficient Turnaround Strategist. His illustrious career spans various sectors including Government, Academia, Banking, Insurance, and the Power Sector. Dr. Abubakar’s primary focus lies in orchestrating and guiding cross-functional teams towards instigating transformative change and enhancing organizational strategy, processes, and profitability with lasting impact.
Dr. Abubakar is a dynamic and charismatic individual with a natural inclination towards leadership and interpersonal relationships. Engr. Aliyu Lawal Mashi, an energy expert, a consummate electrical engineer, a seasoned technocrat and an innovator, is the Chief Technical Officer, Kaduna Electric. He has deep knowledge and diverse experiences in power system management and electricity distribution and marketing.
He is a graduate of Electrical Engineering from the prestigious Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria with almost three decades of experience in power system design, Protection, Control and Metering; Network Maintenance and Reliability;Grounding/Earthing, Bonding, Lightning and surge protection; electricity distribution and marketing and management.
Engr. Aliyu Lawal Mashi also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Africa’s leading citadel of knowledge, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria,Nigeria. He has also received trainings in High voltage Power System Protection, Control and Metering; Network Maintenance and Reliability; Grounding/Earthing, Bonding, Lightning and Power Surge Protection; Electricity Distribution,Commercial/Marketing global best practices; Utility Policy design, formulation and evaluation; Leadership & Value System, etc.
Rising from a Pupil Electrical Engineer where he transversed the Transmission, Generation and Distribution sectors of the nation’s electricity industry, Engr. Mashiwas at various times a Service Center Engineer, Undertaking Manager, Head of Technical Department and a Business Manager all in the defunct National Electric Power Authority, NEPA and Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN respectively.
He was also at a time, the Distribution Engineer, Zaria Regional Office; Ag. Head,Asset Management Unit; Head of Unit, Operations and Maintenance in the privatised Kaduna Electric from where he was appointed into his current position as Chief Technical Officer.
Engr. Aliyu Lawal Mashi is a member of several professional bodies and associations, including Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN; the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE among others.
Abdulazeez is a trained journalist and an experienced public relations and communications practitioner. He is at present the Head of Corporate Communication and a member of the Management Team at Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company. He manages the communication function of the company across its four franchise states namely; Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi.
He was formerly the Managing Editor/General Manager at Peoples Media Limited, publishers of Peoples Daily, an Abuja based newspaper which he joined in 2009. In this role, he was responsible for the business and marketing operations of the company in addition to coordinating the editorial unit of the paper.
Abdulazeez started his journalism career as a Reporter/Researcher at Daily Trust newspaper in 2001 and rose through the ranks to become its Acting Editor. He left the paper in 2008 and took up appointment at Unity Bank as Senior Banking Officer where he headed the External communication and Brand Management Units of the bank. He was a member of the Branding Committee that was saddled with the task of rebranding the bank.
Throughout hus career thus far, he has had opportunities to interface with government officials at all levels including politicians, policy makers and have built long lasting relationships. He also successfully managed teams cross functionally to achieve results.
Abdulazeez obtained Bachelors degree in English from Bayero University, Kano and a Masters degree in Mass Communication from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from Thomson Foundation, Cardiff, United Kingdom and a Post Graduate Certificate in Organisational Behaviour from University of Cumbria, United Kingdom. He has attended several management and strategic communication courses.
His outstanding work in Kaduna Electric has earned him recognition both within the organisation and outside. Among these are the Managing Director’s recognition for Effective Crisis Communication and leading Kaduna Electric to win the Premium African Brand Leadership Merit Award in 2021. He also led Kaduna Electric to win the Electricity Distribution Company of the year award at the Blueprint Newspapers Impact Series 2022 and the Corporate Communications Award at the 2023 Spokespersons Communications Award organized by Spokespersons Digest.
He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and also a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants.
