The management of Kaduna Electric, led by Deputy Managing Director Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed, hosted a delegation from the House Committee on Privatization and Commercialization, chaired by Engr. Hamisu Ibrahim, and the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).
During the meeting, the DMD presented an overview of the company’s performance. He highlighted key achievements since the intervention, including improved commercial and technical results, higher market obligation contributions, better billing efficiency, and a reduction in ATC&C losses, which have rebuilt trust. However, he also cited major challenges, lamenting persistent issues of energy theft, huge debts resulting from underpayments from government ministries, departments & agencies (MDAs), and infrastructure vandalism.
In response, the committee chairman acknowledged the recent progress made by Kaduna Electric. While recognizing significant room for improvement, he assured the company that the Committee would utilize its full legislative powers to facilitate a sustainable turnaround as quickly as possible.
