The Management of Kaduna Electric acknowledges the numerous complaints about inadequate power supply from our esteemed customers of late. While we sincerely apologise for the outages across our network, we wish to state that the main reason for the outages is the low level of power generated onto the national grid. Consequently, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is compelled to adopt a load shedding exercise on its 33KV feeders in order to stabilise the national grid which automatically results in outages on our 11KV feeders.
In the past one week (May 10th – May 16th), Kaduna Electric received an average of 210 MW for distribution in Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi States. Similarly, as at 7:00am this morning (May 16th), for example, 185.52 MW was allocated to Kaduna Electric from the total generation available on the grid.
While we understand the frustration our customers face as a result of the outages, we appeal for patience and restraint as we continue to collaborate with TCN to reduce the impact of the load shedding necessary to stabilise the national grid.
