The failure has led to a reduction of approximately 350 megawatts in bulk power supply to Lagos, significantly impacting customers under the Eko and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Companies.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed a major disruption to electricity supply in Lagos following a transmission line cut.
According to a statement issued by TCN spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, the incident occurred on Saturday, March 9, when transmission lines between Towers 420 and 422 along the Omotoso-Ikeja West 330kV transmission line snapped.
The failure has led to a reduction of approximately 350 megawatts in bulk power supply to Lagos, significantly impacting customers under the Eko and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Companies.
As a result, both distribution networks have been forced to implement load shedding, causing widespread power outages across their coverage areas.
In response to the incident, TCN said it has deployed engineers and necessary repair materials to the site, with work already underway to restore the damaged transmission line
The company estimates that repairs will be completed within three days, after which full electricity supply will be reinstated.
TCN apologised for the inconvenience caused to the Lagos State government, electricity distribution companies, and consumers, assuring the public of its commitment to a swift resolution of the issue.
